Hnos. Montoya with Madrid sports
Last Sunday 14-11-2021, the twentieth edition of the Movistar Half Marathon was held in Madrid, in which the best marks in its history have been achieved over the 21,097 meters of its route.
Hnos. Montoya has witnessed this historic event and fulfilling its vocation and commitment to sport, it has contributed its grain of sand by collaborating in the transport services of the event.
In total there have been seven men who have stopped the clock before the time, something never achieved in Madrid and four women who have done it before 1:09, the winners being two Kenyans, Nelly Jepchumba with 1h07: 46 and Ronald Kiprotich Kirui with 59:38.
Without a doubt, this has been the best edition both for the records set, as well as for the quality and quantity of elite runners who have participated.
The route has also been renewed with the start at Paseo de la Castellana and the finish line at Paseo de Recoletos, passing through several of the most representative monuments and streets of our capital.
This historic edition, the first after the pandemic, has had 17.000 registered plus another 2.000 who have joined the 5 km ProFuturo Race that has been held in parallel.
The ProFuturo race is one of the best-known popular and solidarity events, raising this year more than 19.000 euros that will be donated to the digital program with which Fundación Telefónica and Fundación La Caixa contribute to closing the educational gap in isolated environments and at risk of exclusion in 40 different countries.
This test brings together thousands of people every year who run for the same cause, to help millions of children in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia have access to quality education.
The ProFuturo race has already raised more than 84.000 euros in its five editions, thanks to the participation of 12.000 runners.
The Movistar Half Marathon of Madrid maintains its status as the “Road Race Label” of the World Athletics international federation and has complied with all health protocols to be a safe event.
